There are lots of registry repair software nowadays in the market, thus it is important that you are able to find the best program for your PC quickly To find a tool which is good enough to work on your own system can be a challenge but there are some tips that will show you what is the best registry repair software. Many registry repair software are not very powerful, and they end up not being able to scan all of your system and find the most problems in there. Unfortunately, a lot of registry repair tools are simply unable to find the most errors, making them highly ineffective and poor-quality.

Having a backup facility is essential for registry cleaning. The registry is a very delicate part of your system, which can easily become damaged and corrupted after one scan. This means if in case something bad happens, then you will need to be able to rely on a powerful backup facility in order to fix the registry completely And also, only the best registry repair tool have this feature.

With many new updates being launched for Windows, every month, it’s important that your registry tool is kept up to date and on top of any potential problems that might arise. Luckily, all the best registry repair tools are updated to allow your PC to stay at cutting edge technology. There are many features that you will need to look out for, but these are the main ones which will determine if the PC’s registry is good or not. If ever you are interested in a tool, then you should look for these three specific details, and if the utility has all of them, then it’s worth continuing to research further into the product. I was given the hard lesson when I got cheap but low quality registry repair software when my computer crashed. But instead of fixing my problem, it went even worse than before, thus giving me no choice but to buy a computer! Let this be a lesson to everyone. Take care when buying a registry cleaner on the Internet and check which one is really working or not. When you have found one, buy it and install to your computer at once.

USB 3 Goes Superspeed

Many of us slightly older folk will still remember the humble floppy disk which was the computing industries first real mobile storage media for the mainstream user and when first introduced was an ideal way of transferring data across computers, as long as you did not mind formatting the disk or re-writing it a number of times because of corruption on the first few attempts.

USB 1.0 which was first introduced in 1996 was still an emerging standard so if we had a larger file we had to span the data across many floppies which I remember was a real pain at the time.

But as computing power grew at a fast pace the size of files seemed to grow exponentially and the floppy drive was simply not up to the job meaning many people were left having to burn very expensive CD’s as burning technology came into play in the nick of time.

USB was making rapid gains fortunately and manufacturers were coming up with many new uses for this very user friendly (operating system permitting) plug and play capability, and the pen drive was borne not a moment to soon in my opinion. Mobile data transfer capacity rocketed upwards from a humble 2mb and it did not seem too long until the capacity of USB pen drives surpassed that of the CD.

The Computer repair and IT industries where some of the first serious adopters of pen drives primarily due to the fact that system tools could be easily carried on a flash drive and with the larger capacities reduced the need to carry around a number of CD disks used for diagnostics or computer maintenance utilities.

As capacities grew though faster data transfer speeds were needed and this led to the emergence of the second generation of USB …USB 2.0.

There was of course a lot of confusion between USB 2 and Hi speed USB at the time, which could transfer data at an astonishing 480mbps per second but a lot of early adopters were left more than a tad upset as industry often sold devices and PCI cards as USB 2.0 but in reality they were only USB 2.0 compliant and still had a much slower transfer speed.)

All of that seems lost in the past know as the standard has emerged and is widely accepted by many as the de facto transfer protocol although the firewire camp would disagree but as technology matures time will tell.

The humble and originally very expensive thumb drive really took the market by storm and capacities rose to become greater than some people still have on their old computers, and it is now estimated than in excess of 150 million flash drives will be sold a year which of course is only the tip of the iceberg when you consider the estimated 6 billion plus USB interfaced devices in circulation which is growing at a rate of 2 billion per year.

Increases in drive capacities has raised a number of issues across many industry sectors including the Data recovery industry, which has had to evolve new USB memory recovery techniques for recovering data from these flash based devices.

Transferring data has become so easy that scant regard has been paid to data backup and equally in the drive to manufacture cheaper products manufacturing standards appear to have slipped resulting in memory controller errors, which of course in turn has led to an increase of lost data.

Some Data recovery companies have of course stepped up the mark and the pen drive recovery industry is now alive and well.

Another problem area with plug and play devices is that of data security and the sheer ease of file transfer has given many business and government bodies severe data security headaches resulting in extreme cases to the USB interface being disabled on computers, Pc’s and laptops in security sensitive environments.

As it seems with all technology every development brings us even greater speed and the new USB 3.0 standard is no exception promising data transfer speed 10x greater than current specs which will give us transfer speeds around 5Gbps.

This very fast transfer speed may of course signal the end of the older firewire standard which has been falling behind more recently.

{USB 3.0 standards have been ratified and the first devices are expected to be available towards the end of the year and it will also be interesting to see if Windows 7 ready boost feature will be able to increase the operating systems performance far greater than is apparent in Windows Vista.

Imagine the effect on your business. The IT system fails and everything is lost. Every single document on your network has seemingly gone up in a proverbial puff of smoke and the company is left with nothing – no records of orders, contracts, invoices, vital contacts, staff details, and payroll. Even the emails have simply vanished.

IT is the lifeblood of any organisation and those who fail to take the correct steps to protect it do so at their peril. Loss of data is a major threat to businesses of all sizes – from single desktop operations to multi-networked concerns.

Any IT solution should not be restricted to the basics like computer repair, network and computer support , but should also take into account business continuity planning.

The sad fact is that nobody can predict if a business or a consumer is likely to suffer from a data loss emergency, but there are a number of areas that are generally prone potential problems which could arise from a basic electrical power surge, electronic or mechanical failure or even a sabotage attempt by a disgruntled employee. You also have to consider acts of nature i.e floods, storms or even natural disasters depending on your locality.

There is a lot more interest being taken in the topic of business continuity recently, but the implementation of disaster recovery solutions has been pretty hit and miss for many companies and businesses, many of which still rely on aging tape back up technology. One of the biggest failings is testing the system that has been put in place and many companies have felt the pain of the backup simply not being available in their hour of need.

This then leads to the need for far more expensive data recovery or raid data recovery as a method of hopefully retrieving vital data.

Many companies are now investing in remote data backup models as part of their business continuity strategy as these have a number of significant advantages.

For example, remote backup does not rely on restoration from tape devices, but instead lost data can be accessed almost immediately directly from a secure location regardless of the time of day or even where you are trying to access the data from. So there is no worry that the backup did not work or the tape was possibly faulty, or even that the backup device has failed and you can’t get a model that can read your tapes.

If you have not yet implemented a disaster recovery plan for your business then you should put this high on your business agenda. Could your business survive if it were to lose all the client records on your CRM system or financial data from your accounts package. Don’t forget the cost is not purely the loss of data but also the lost business that may ensue as well as the time and resource to get things back on track.

And of course on a final note, once you have implemented a business continuity plan make sure you test it to make sure the plan is robust in a real environment.

Buying a new computer is an important decision for a lot of reasons. The number one reason is of course cost. Well, it depends on what you are going to be doing with it of course, but it still will cost you regardless of what you are going to be using it for. If you are going to be gaming on this machine and want to play the most intense graphical game at the highest settings, then you are going to pay at the very least $1,500.00 for this machine. If you are going to be using it to surf the web and maybe watch a few DVD’s (notice I said DVD’s not Blueray) then a sub $400.00 system will probably suffice. Now if you want to do any kind of high definition video playback or video converting, then you will probably want a sub $1,000.00 dollar machine.

Now your choice of brand is really up to preference. Most of your computers are going to have Intel or AMD processors in them and Seagate or Westerd Digital hard drives. I know you have other things like memory and video cards and things like that, but these two hard-ware devices are your most important. Being said that, your computer whatever you buy, will have Either one of these hardware manufacturer’s products in them. So really it does not matter what brand you buy considering that under the hood they are pretty much the same anyways. If you are a person that prefers a Dell then by all means buy you a Dell. If you prefer HP then by all means buy you an HP. It doesn’t really matter. Just make sure you get the most bang for the buck. I wouldn’t buy a machine now a days with less than a 200 gig hard drive and 2 gigs of memory.

Now for some people this is not enough, but notice I said I wouldn’t buy one with less than this. I myself would prefer to go ahead and get a 500 gig drive with 4 gigs of memory and the latest video card I could find in a bundle. Video memory should not be less than 256 and 512 and up would be preferable. Now the more you get in a machine of course the higher the price. Now one way to cut off some of that price and get more bang for you buck would be to just buy the computer itself and no monitor. Now of course this is if you already have a pretty decent monitor that you don’t mind holding on to.

This can save you about $150.00 dollars off of the price of the computer or you could treat it like a rebate kind of. What I mean by this is you can buy that $500.00 dollar computer that would cost you $750.00 dollars by not getting the monitor. Or you could find a $400.00 dollar computer that you want and not get the monitor and it would be like buying a more expensive computer. Either way you come out on top as far as price and what you get in a computer if you don’t get the monitor.

Now you will have to find computers that don’t packaged with a monitor, but you can find these at all retail electronics stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Mostly half of the computers these retailers sale are just the computers themselves and no monitors. Well that is it for this post. I hope this helps someone with there computer purchasing needs. Sorry for any misspelled words or grammatical errors. I am not an English teacher or writer. I am just a technician. Thanks for reading.

The modern world is practically based on and composed of a lot of technological inventions and smallest laptop computers. We seem to be unable to do anything without technology. One of the inventions many of us cannot do without is the smallest laptop computers. The latest developments in the field of computers have brought us the laptops. When talking about laptops, which are also referred to as notebook computers, we actually mean small PCs for mobile use. The typical components of desktop computers are all to be found in laptops. Therefore, laptops include the display, the keyboard, a pointing device – touchpad or pointing stick, and the battery. The difference lies in the fact that all these components are to be found into one single unit that is also portable. The rechargeable batteries of laptops get their power from an AC/DC adapter and their capacity enables them to be functional for several hours.

The thin shape of the devices definitely led to their being called rugged laptop computers. Laptops are usually 0.7 – 1.5 inches thick and their dimensions range from 10×8 inches (13 inch display) to 15×11 inches (17 inch display) and up. They are not heavy, weighing between 3 and 12 pounds. The design of most laptops as the flip form factor, is meant to protect the screen of the computer when it is closed. Personal computers became feasible at the beginning of the 1970s and not long after those years the idea of portable PCs – laptops, appeared. The person who imagined this was Alan Kay of Xerox PARC. In 1972 he put his idea on paper under the name of Dynabook. The first laptops were available on the market only in 1981. The Osborne 1 and then, in the same year, the Epson HX-20 were the first portable computers commercially available. Since then discount laptop computer have developed and become more and more proficient.

Unfortunately, besides the obvious advantages of ibook notebooks, there are also some disadvantages. The main and most important advantage of laptops is evidently their portability. In addition, laptops have the ability to work on battery power in the event of a power outage. Laptops are also more economical and do not produce as much heat as desktop computers do. The disadvantages of laptops come from the standardization and compatibility issues. In spite of some accepted world standards for manufacturing the peripherals and add-in PC cards to desktop computers as well as macintosh pcs, the processor and hard driver manufacturing part does not fall subject to any international regulation yet.

Your computer is acting a little strange. It’s taking a little too long to go from page to page, even though you have high speed internet. Pages close at random for no apparent reason.

You get strange little message from your computer that make no sense to you at all. If it does, your computer may be bogged down by adware programs that are making your internet surfing feel more like internet sludging.

You probably need a good adware removal program or you need to speak to your local Dorchester computer repairers.

A simple plug in appliance can help you stop spam at its entry point. An adware removal program can help you get rid of existing problems and protect you against future difficulties.

One of the biggest threats that most people aren’t even aware exist on their computers is tracking programs. More often than not, when you download anything on the internet, you are also downloading tracking programs.

Mostly, tracking programs allow whoever you have downloaded it from to see what sites you are visiting and with what frequency. It helps them to make their sites and programs more appealing to the internet surfer.

Sometime, tracking devices allow others to see what is in your computer, what information you are relaying across the internet, and thus target their product or service towards you. An adware removal program will help you get rid of the ones that are causing problems and quarantine the programs that are just inconvenient.

Adware removal programs can be bought online or in your local Dorchester computer repair store. You can pay to install some of the best programs available or you can download a program for free on the internet.

While free downloads are good, they may not protect your computer the best when you consider your internet surfing habits. Spend some time to compare adware removal programs before you purchase or download and you’ll soon be surfing on the safest and most exciting wave of the season.

Tracing IP Addresses

Anyone who owns a website knows that it is important on occasion to find a way to trace IP address. If you can trace the IP, you can then decide what you have to do next. There are many places online to trace IP address, and some of them work better than others. Some may give you a city, while others may give you a map with the location of the IP.

There are times though, when you cannot trace IP address like you would like to because some IPs are protected by their service provider. If you are having a problem with someone, your only choices are to ban the address or send the information along to their service provider and hope they do something about it.

Perhaps the trace IP address sites are best used if you have a small community online, and you know almost everyone. In that event, you can trace IP address to find out if it is someone that is already on your site. It will be up to you if you just want to ban them or perhaps expose them to the rest of your users.

There are many sites online that you can use to trace IP address and location, but you should know that your findings will be limited, equally if you do nedd help their are some local Dorchester computer repair companies you can turn to for advice.

Also remember that if you suspect something illegal, there isn’t much you can do about it anyway. When things come up like child pornography or physical threats and stalking, you have to turn over what information you may have to someone who can do something about it.

Let the world of technology envelope you. This is the modern path to enlightenment. Okay, so maybe that’s a little extreme, but take internet cameras for instance.

Whether you’re chatting online with family and friends, conducting a board meeting for work, or simply monitoring your home while you’re away, the almighty technology has come through again.

Since most of us have careers and priorities that lie away from the home, it’s nearly impossible to keep an eye on everything, although with internet camera technology, you can do whatever you please.

A number of home owners are setting up top-notch security systems and retaining full access to them even at work, or on vacation. It’s all about the Internet and wireless connection.

After speaking to my local Dorchester computer Repair company I found out you can pretty much rig Internet cameras so that your home can be watched all day long. Talk about serious security! This takes surveillance to the next level.

So far I’ve only witnessed high tech Internet cameras on my brother’s laptop. He is a recent home buyer, but travels a lot. Therefore he prefers to have a watchful eye on his property while he’s away.

He can now pop open his laptop and take a gander at the interior and exterior of his home in real time. This is the ultimate way to ensure yourself that all is secure on the home-front.

Now it’s my turn. I can’t wait to get my security system and Internet cameras rigged through my Mac.

This way I can tote that light-weight notebook where ever I go, and keep an eye on my home in the process. This new-age technology is especially handy for those who work in an office all day long. Prop your laptop next to you and view the Internet cameras as much as you like.

Today it’s all about access and convenience and of course keeping pace with the latest technology, my local Dorchester computer repair company helps me stay in the picture.

I guess we have all been there at some point, you type up a nice e-mail and attach a few (what you thought were) photos taken on you latest 10 or 20 megapixel camera and then press the send button. After you wait what seems like an age you then get a message telling you that the file is to large, how annoying is that?. The problem is though that large file transfer is an issue.

For business travellers this is a much greater problem as they often have to send large documents, sales proposals or complicated spreadsheets with macros.

As a local business sending large files and photos can be a problem so I spoke to my local Dorchester computer repair company who were very helpful and gave me some very sound advice

It seems that videos are becoming more popular online, you may have a hard time sending these out as well. Photos and videos are getting larger and longer, thanks to advances in digital photography, and sometimes, there is no way to share these without displaying them publicly online.

When you are sending large files, you have to find a source other than your email to do so. There are many sites that will help you with this, and some are geared towards business use.

You will find sites, can be used to send just about anything. Some will save the information on their server for a period of time, allowing the recipient a few days to a week to pick up the file on their own computer. After that time period, the file then disappears.

You do have a lot of choices today for sending large files, though at one time, this was unheard of online. People are beginning to rely on the Internet more and more for personal and business communications, and the Internet is trying to keep up.

There will of course be a number of considerations you will need to take into account when using these types of service. Cost is one factor but equally important is the security of the data you are sending. Is the service you choose to use an established provider with defined data protection protocols in place for example.

If sending large files for business is an ongoing and increasing problem then it may be more cost effective to try and find an alternate in house solution. The advantage of course is that on the one hand the ongoing cost could be less, but more importantly you will be sure that your data will be as secure as it can be in your own hands.

For the time being , depending whether you need a business or home user large file sending service at least now you know that there are such services available online if you find your self in need of a quick fix or an ongoing solution.

Many years ago, families lived close together. Families are often spread apart and the physical distance can make it difficult to keep in touch.

Geography can make it difficult for families to stay connected. That is why I like to keep a family web site.

A family web site is easier to build than one might think. Even someone who has no knowledge of web design can build a simple web site. Thanks to web builders and free templates, anyone can have a web site that is beautiful and fun to look at and easy to put together all at the same time, fortunately my local Dorchester computer repair company pointed me in the right direction.

There are many web site hosts that are great for anyone who wishes to have their very own family web site. Many web hosts can be found that offer either free or very low cost hosting so your family web site can be a place where you can preserve special memories and stay in touch with loved ones.

You can allow it to be public or you can use a password so that only those you allow to see it can have access to your family information. You can decide if you are going to post photos (uploading pictures is a very simple task with most web builders), family news, or keep a family blog.

No matter where your family lives, they can all feel closer to you where ever they have access to the internet.

A family web site can also be fun family activity. Children as young as five or six can have their own page on the site where they can tell other family members what they are learning in school and who’s birthday part was best.

As each family member takes time to share their view of events, it can bring your family closer together – family members that live far away and the family members that live in your own home.

Today it’s all about what you know and Dorchester computer repair where happy to advise although they could have built a site for me. Have a chat with your local PC specialist as they probably know a lot more about technology than just computer repair.
